RER and TGV Paris Airport Trains

Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport has frequent rail connections from its two airport train stations. The RER (Réseau Express Régional) Line B provides direct access to Paris and the suburbs, while TGV high-speed trains connect CDG with other French cities and several international destinations.

The Regional RER B Trains from Paris Roissy Airport

RER B (Blue Line) trains depart from both CDG airport stations. The first train usually leaves at 04:50 and the last at around 23:50. Trains run approximately every 10–20 minutes, with higher frequency during rush hours.

RER B is a convenient and relatively affordable option for reaching central Paris. Travel times depend on your stop:

  • Paris (average): ~50 minutes
  • Gare du Nord: ~34 minutes
  • Châtelet–Les Halles: ~37 minutes
  • Saint-Michel Notre-Dame: ~40 minutes

There are also express-style services (often showing Massy–Palaiseau rather than Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse) that skip intermediate stops between the airport and Gare du Nord, making the journey faster.

Keep in mind that the RER network in Paris often operates with different branches. Always check the electronic signs and onboard route displays before boarding. As a general rule, the letter (B) indicates the line and the number indicates the branch (for example, B3 to the airport, while other branches may terminate elsewhere).

Our Tip: Maintenance works are common on the Paris rail network and can cause delays, disruptions, or route changes. Always check the official RATP website for live updates before traveling.

The RER B Paris Airport Train Stations

RER B trains stop at two stations:

  • Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 1 (Roissypôle)
  • Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV (SNCF Station)

Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 1 is located in Roissypôle near Terminal 3 (and not inside Terminal 1). It is reachable from T3 on foot in about 5–10 minutes. Passengers coming from T1 must use the free CDGVAL shuttle train to reach Roissypôle.

Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV is located between T2C/T2D and T2E/T2F. It is within walking distance from T2C, T2D, T2E, and T2F. From T2A, the station is about a 10-minute walk, or you can use the free N1 shuttle. From T2G, use the free N2 shuttle to reach the station area.

Airport signage is clear and usually marked as “RER B train” or “Paris by train”.

Our Tip 1: The free CDGVAL train runs every ~4 minutes from 04:00 to 01:00, connecting T1 to T2 in about 8 minutes and T1 to T3 in about 4 minutes.

Our Tip 2: RER trains can be a target for pickpockets, especially at busy times. Keep valuables close and stay alert.

How Much do RER B Tickets Cost from CDG Airport?

A one-way CDG Airport Ticket for RER B costs approximately:

  • Adults: 11.80€ / 11.80$
  • Children (4–9): 8.20€ / 8.20$
  • Children under 4: free of charge

Tickets are available from station vending machines and ticket offices, and online. These tickets are electronic and are typically loaded on a Navigo card or a mobile device.

Important: At the CDG2 station, make sure you use the correct ticket desks. RER tickets are sold at Billets Paris et Île-de-France counters, while TGV tickets are handled at Grandes Lignes counters/machines.

Airport RER tickets are also valid for onward public transport connections (within the standard transfer window) as long as you follow the rules of the ticket type and do not misuse exit/re-entry between zones.

Paris Visite and Navigo Passes for RER Transfers

Paris Visite Travel Pass

The Paris Visite pass is available for 1, 2, 3, or 5 consecutive days and allows unlimited travel on Metro, bus, tram, RER, SNCF (within included zones), and the Montmartre funicular.

  • Zones 1–3: central Paris + inner suburbs
  • Zones 1–5: includes CDG Airport, Disneyland, Versailles, and wider Île-de-France

Since CDG is in zone 5, you need a zones 1–5 Paris Visite pass for airport rail travel. Prices vary by duration (typically from ~29.25€ to ~76.25€). Children usually receive a discount.

To use the pass, you must write your name and dates on it. Time starts counting from the first validation, and you must validate it when using public transport.

Navigo Passes

Navigo is a rechargeable transport system for Paris public transportation. Common options include:

  • Navigo Easy: anonymous card (~2€), suitable for stored tickets and some day products (one person at a time)
  • Navigo Day Ticket: unlimited rides for a chosen day (zone-dependent pricing, zones 1–5 usually the most relevant for airports)
  • Navigo Découverte: personal card (~5€) requiring name + photo, can be loaded with day/week tickets
  • Navigo Week Pass: valid Monday 00:00 to Sunday 23:59 (zones 1–5 pricing commonly used for airport access)

Important: Standard t+ tickets are not valid for airport RER travel from CDG. They apply only within central Paris zones on certain RER segments.

Our Tip 1: Navigo products are available at CDG airport rail stations through ticket offices and vending machines.

Our Tip 2: Always buy and validate the correct ticket before boarding to avoid fines.

TGV Intercity Trains from Charles de Gaulle Airport

Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV is also a major hub for high-speed rail. From this station, passengers can use:

  • TGV inOui (premium high-speed services across France)
  • OUIGO (low-cost high-speed services on selected routes)
  • connections to mainline and international rail services (depending on schedules and routes)

If you want a smoother journey, consider booking Air + Train combinations where possible. Certain airline/SNCF partnerships allow combined itineraries, and may offer rebooking solutions if delays occur (depending on the fare rules and partner policy).

Our Tip 1: TGV tickets are sold at Grandes Lignes counters and the relevant machines (not the Île-de-France RER desks).

Our Tip 2: CDG signage to the rail hub is clear. Follow the signs for “Gare SNCF” or “Paris by train”.
